Wahlberg Brings Hollywood to Hingham

(NECN: Ally Donnelly, Hingham, Mass.) - Boston native Mark Wahlberg's new comedy "The Other Guys" premiered tonight in Hingham, Massachusetts. Wahlberg was on hand for the premiere.

Paul Wahlberg preps for a big night. His Hingham, Massachusetts restaurant Alma Nove is hosting the pre and post parties for his brother's new movie.

Paul Wahlberg: The first question people usually ask me, 'how come you don't sing, how come you're not in the band?'".

There were plenty of groupies to go around as Hingham rolled out the Red Carpet Tuesday night.

Actor/producer Mark Wahlberg brought Hollywood to this South Shore bedroom town -- premiering 'The Other Guys', his new cop comedy with Will Ferrell. Wahlberg mugged for the cameras and signed autographs, but had to break the news that Ferrel wouldn't be joining him.

"I don't want him stealing any of my thunder man."

Wahlberg and his 8 brothers and sisters grew up in the hardscrabble Boston neighborhood of Dorchester. A dyed in the wool Red Sox fan, Wahlberg shared his delight that his character in the new flick gets to shoot Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.

"I thought that was a practical joke when I read the script...are you kidding me?"

Wahlberg has had quite the career on stage and off. He gained fame with his rap group Marky Mark and the Funky bunch -- and shame with a string of racially-motivated beatings, one of which landed him in a Massachusetts prison. Now a father of four and nearing 40, he looked back on his life.

Grateful too to get to have a night with family. Alma Nove, is named after his mom Alma and Nove meaning 9 in Italian -- in honor of the Wahlberg brood.

And what does he think of his brother's new restaurant?

"You know what, I haven't eaten the food yet, if it's not good, I'm gonna tell him."
