West Nile Virus Found in Mass.

Officials in Waltham spraying for mosquitoes; West Nile virus has also shown up in Belmont and Westport

(NECN) - It's that time of year again. West Nile Virus is starting to show up in the Massachusetts region.

Massachusetts health officials say they found the potentially-deadly virus in Belmont, Waltham and Westport yesterday.

Waltham will be sprayed for mosquitoes Friday.

So far, no humans or animals in the state have tested positive for West Nile.

Last year in Massachusetts, there were 33 human cases of West Nile, and it killed one person.
