A 19-year-old Southington, Connecticut, man faces 10 years in prison when he is sentenced for starting a fire that took the life of friend's sister last June.
Eric Morelli pleaded guilty to manslaughter in May as part of a deal with prosecutors. He has acknowledged throwing a firecracker into the window of the apartment where 19-year-old Kristen Milano was sleeping on June 22, 2014.
Morelli told police the incident happened after a night of drinking and smoking marijuana, when he went to the apartment hoping to awaken Kristen's brother, Jason Milano.
Jason Milano and his aunt escaped the flames.
Milano is expected to receive a sentence Thursday of 10 years in prison and five years of probation. As part of a plea deal, four other charges were dropped.
