Police in East Lyme, Connecticut, are investigating an anonymous posted threat of violence against the town, according to town officials.
East Lyme First Selectman Paul Formica says the threat, posted on social media site YikYak, is being taken "very seriously," and that East Lyme police, state police, and the FBI are all involved in the investigation.
He added that he was first made aware of the threat early on the day of Christmas Eve on Wednesday.
Officials have not determined whether the threat specifically targets a particular town building or department or whether extra security is needed at this time.
The investigation is ongoing and few details are available at this time.
