Freon leak causes Copley evacuation

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) – A freon leak caused Boston’s Copley Plaza Hotel to be evacuated Sunday afternoon. The leak occurred in the mechanical room in the basement. The Boston Fire Department said it was able to stop the leak, but fumes from it rose to the first floor of the hotel. Due to that, the building was evacuated. Exhaust fans were used to air out the building. Once the air quality is safe, guests were to be let back in. No one was hurt. Update: Boston Fire Department left the scene at 6:45 Sunday night as people were allowed back into the hotel.
