Hybrid storm heads north along east coast

(NECN: Latoyia Edwards: Chatham, MA) – Tropical Storm Danny has weakened to a tropical depression but was still expected to produce a second straight weekend of dangerous surf along the East Coast. NECN reporter Latoyia Edwards is in Chatham Massachusetts reporting from Fishermans Pier where winds are expected to pick up through the evening with gusts to 50 MPH. She shares some video of the storm and spoke to local authorities about any issues from overnight. The temperature is close to 64 in Chatham with expected heavy winds during the day. “Danny” is likely to pass over or very near to Cape Cod and the Islands It will bring some Tropical Storm force wind gusts (39+ mph) to the east coast of MA, RI, the NH Seacoast and ME coast. Gusts as high as 50-60 mph possible Cape & Islands. Some coastal flooding and beach erosion is possible at high tide with pounding surf. Highs only in the 60s for most, but warmer near the storm track. DCR CLOSING SOME BEACHES TO SWIMMING DUE TO THREATS POSED BY TROPICAL STORM DANNY WHAT: The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will prohibit swimming at several ocean beaches on Saturday due to the heavy seas and rip currents predicted from Tropical Storm Danny.
