2 Dead in House Fire in Orrington, Maine

The bodies of a man and a woman were found in the rubble; 3 other people escaped the fire

The fire marshal’s office says three other people, two men and a woman, escaped the fire that was reported around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Two people have died in an early morning house fire in the Maine town of Orrington.

The fire marshal's office says one of the victims was 55-year-old Shelly Lynn Murphy. Relatives of the other victim, a middle aged man, are being notified of his death.

The fire marshal's office says three other people 57-year-old Richard Murphy, who was Shelly Lynn Murphy's brother, 34-year-old Douglas Davis and 52-year-old Tanya Clapp escaped the fire that was reported around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Authorities say the bodies of a man and woman were found in the rubble. They will be transported to the state medical examiner's office in Augusta.

Officials say the fire appears to have started in a first floor bedroom and spread quickly, destroying the home.

The Maine Department of Public Safety says the three survivors suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation.
