Maine Irish Heritage Center Helping Connect Family Through Genealogy Research

If you’re Irish, live in Maine and want to know more about your family history, you’re in luck. A genealogist with the Maine Gaeltacht DNA project at the Maine Irish Heritage Center says the project has been connecting cousins in the Greater Portland area and around the country and world. They use a DNA test called Family Finder and now have a massive collection of names in the project. She says they go to Ireland once a year and test about 20 people. She says the people in Ireland have embraced the project, as well, loving the connection to the United States.
