Man Freed From Minivan Trapped Under Tractor Trailer on Maine Highway

A man was freed from a minivan that became trapped under a tractor trailer Saturday morning on a Maine highway.

Police say 56-year-old Kenneth Billings of Bangor hit the truck from behind, sliding under it just before 8 a.m. on I-95 in Fairfield.

It took almost an hour for crews to extricate Billings. He was taken first to Maine General Hospital and then transported to Maine Medical Center.

The extent of his injuries was not clear.

The southbound highway was shut down in the area for more than four hours.

Witnesses told police Billings was speeding and driving erratically.
