2-Alarm Fire Causes $20K or More in Damage

Fire officials estimate a blaze caused $20,000 to $25,000 in damage to a home in Newton, Massachusetts.

The 2-alarm fire broke out Saturday afternoon at 62 James St. According to Newton Fire, it started in the walls of the basement before spreading to the kitchen on the first floor.

Officials had to call in a second alarm for manpower in an overhaul, which prevented the fire from extending further.

No one was injured in the fire. Newton Fire said that residents may be displaced.
