Boston Police say one elderly woman is dead and another is injured after both were struck by a vehicle in the city’s South End on Wednesday afternoon.
One elderly woman was killed and another was injured after being hit by a car Wednesday afternoon in Boston's South End.
Police confirm one of the victims passed away at Boston Medical Center after the crash at the intersection of Tremont Street and West Brookline Street.
A woman driving a black Nissan Murano allegedly hit the pedestrians when they were crossing the street in the crosswalk around 3:30 p.m.
Phil Indelicato said he heard a "thud."
Others at a nearby pizza shop saw the women go airborne.
"I came out and saw the black car and two ladies on the floor," said Ghassan Samaha, the owner of Nicole's Pizza.
"One flew to the front, and one flew to the other side," said Francisco Gonzalez, who also works at the pizza shop. "They weren't moving at all."

Eyewitnesses say the driver of the Murano, who stayed at the scene, was also taken to the hospital and was in hysterics saying she couldn't see because of the solar flare.
"She was crying saying that she couldn't see because the sun was in her face," said Gonzalez.
Samaha said he didn't think she was speeding because she "didn't hit the brake."
Many in the area say the sun glare can be extremely troublesome on Tremont, and say the combination of pedestrians and cars not seeing each other can also be a problem.
Initially, police said both women's injuries were life-threatening. The second victim is now expected to survive.
Boston Police say no charges are pending right now, but the incident is still under investigation.
