Charges Dropped Against Officer Accused of Assaulting Pregnant Wife

Charges against a police officer in Massachusetts accused of assaulting his pregnant wife have been dropped after his wife refused to testify against him.

The Daily News of Newburyport reports 34-year-old Michael Mori was charged with assault and battery on a family member, assault and battery on a pregnant woman and strangulation. The charges were dismissed last week after Mori's wife told a judge she wouldn't testify.

The Salisbury man was arrested last month after his wife told police he struck her in the face and kicked her in the stomach. She is seven months pregnant.

Everett police say Mori is a three-year veteran of the force. He was placed on administrative leave without pay following his arrest. It's unclear whether he is still on leave.
