Final Settlement Announced in DJ Henry Case

The family of DJ Henry and the town of Mt. Pleasant, New York, has reached a settlement where by which the town will donate an undisclosed amount of money to the DJ Henry Dream Fund that provides scholarships for students.

Henry, a 20-year-old college student from Easton, Massachusetts, was shot and killed by police in 2010 in New York state, where he was attending Pace University.

Henry's parents say the settlement ends the legal process and is separate from the $6 million payout the family received from the town a few years ago related to the shooting.

According to Henry's father, Dan Henry, the settlement was never about money or race. "We felt like we needed to really make sure people knew who DJ was," says Mr. Henry

"I hope with time, lessons are learned that are productive," says Mr. Henry, "It will be good to focus now more fully on the foundation."
