Man Sentenced for Crash That Killed Best Friend

Kyle Bailey was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty

A Stockbridge, Massachusetts, man who was drunk when he crashed his car and killed his friend has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Kyle Bailey was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to charges including motor vehicle homicide and operating under the influence in connection with the crash in the early hours of April 4, 2015 that took the life of 21-year-old Garrett Norton of Great Barrington. Norton was Bailey's front-seat passenger. Another passenger was seriously injured.

The prosecutor said Bailey drank several beers at Norton's home at two bars and his blood-alcohol concentration more than twice the legal limit to drive.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that the 23-year-old Bailey apologized in court for his "extremely poor judgment," saying: "I wish there was something I could do to bring Garrett back.
