Newton, Mass. Residents Protest Proposal to Build Senior Center on Park

Residents in Newton, Massachusetts have spoken out against a proposal to build a new senior center on a park.

Protesters rallied at a community meeting Monday to voice their concerns of building the center on Albemarle Field. The Preserve Newton Parks group created a petition in favor of keeping the Albemarle Road park, to which hundreds of people have signed.

Newton’s building commissioner says the town wants to meet the needs of its seniors, but they haven’t yet decided on an official location for an upcoming center.
