A Brockton, Massachusetts, man convicted of shaking his infant son to death 15 years ago has been denied parole.
The Plymouth district attorney's office announced Wednesday that Michael Lyons' parole request was unanimously denied by the Massachusetts Parole Board earlier this month.
The 50-year-old Lyons was found guilty of second-degree murder in 2001 in connection with the June 1998 death of his 2-week-old son, Jacob. According to the ruling, Lyons shook Jacob with enough force to "shake a 215-pound man."
The parole board found that Lyons "is not yet rehabilitated and, therefore does not merit parole at this time."
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz says Lyons has not fully served his debt for his "heinous, brutal crime."
