Man With Violent History Arrested After 3-Hour Standoff

Jamie McKeague was held without bail after his arrest on Sunday night

A street in Sharon, Massachusetts, was shut down for nearly three hours on Sunday night after a man with a violent criminal history refused to come out of a local home.

Jamie McKeague, 43, was held without bail on a Sharon Police Department warrant for violating a protective order, assault and battery, threats and resisting arrest. He was expected to be arraigned on Monday morning in Stoughton District Court.

Around 9 p.m. Sunday, a Sharon Police lieutenant said he saw McKeague enter a North Main Street residence with a woman who had sought a restraining order against him just the day before. McKeague had an active warrant for his arrest, and due to his violent history, the lieutenant became concerned that the woman was being held against her will.

The lieutenant reached the woman by phone and got her to exit the home. McKeague, however, did not respond to attempts to get him to come out.

A perimeter was established, and a SWAT team was called in, along with officers from several neighboring police departments.

A small portion of North Main Street was closed, and McKeague finally came out of the house just before midnight and was arrested without incident.
