High-level sex offenders are being removed from an online public database that tracks them following State Supreme Judicial Court decision, the Boston Herald reports.
Justices ruled last month that a higher burden of proof is necessary when ranking the likelihood of recidivism among convicted sex offenders. Hundreds of cases could be affected, and could prompt the removal of names of those convicted of sex crimes until new hearings are held, according to the report.
One superior court judge told the paper that the decision is “creating an administrative nightmare” for the sex offender board.
