Suffolk D.A. to Caregiver of Baby Doe: ‘Clear Your Conscience'

The Suffolk district attorney spoke to the media Tuesday afternoon concerning the case of a little girl's remains found in a plastic bag in Boston Harbor.

D.A. Dan Conley renewed authorities' call for the public's help in identifying the little girl whose remains were found on the shores of Deer Island June 25.

According to Conley, the computer-generated image of the young girl that was released last week has been viewed on Facebook over 45 million times. He says that as a result of this publicity, police conducted 20 well-being checks. All of the young girls were determined to be safe and sound.

Conley spoke directly to the parents or caregivers of the girl at the news conference, saying that the child has a right to a humane burial.

"If you are the parent or caregiver of this young girl, please clear your conscience," Conley said. "Step forward and help us identify this young child."

Officials released a computer-generated image of the girl last week, and described her as a brown-haired, brown-eyed girl who was about 4 years old when she died. Her body was found inside of a trash bag with a black and white zebra-print blanket by a woman walking her dog, according to authorities.

The medical examiner has not yet determined a cause of death.
