Wire Cables Tied Across Trails Found at Several State Parks in Massachusetts

Officials believe the person responsible is intending to cause serious harm

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation has a warning for those headed to a number of state forests across the state.

Wire cables have been discovered at four locations. Someone has been hanging them from tree to tree across trails.

The affected areas include Franklin State Forest, Wrentham State Forest, Freetown State Forest and F. Gilbert Hills State Forest.

DCR officials believe the person responsible is intending to cause serious harm.

"After receiving reports made by members of the public, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Massachusetts Environmental Police issued a warning to all Off Highway Motorcycle (OHM) riders and other users of wire cables being tied across trails with the intent to cause serious harm," says DCR Spokesman Troy Wall. "The DCR and the Environmental Police ask all individuals to report anything suspicious, and to be alert of their surroundings."

If you see someone acting suspicious, you should report them immediately by calling (800) 632-8075 or (866) 759-2824.
