Nicole Becomes a Hurricane

Today (Tuesday): Bright sun with highs in the 60s Overnight (Tuesday): Pleasant, partly cloudy, highs in the 60s Wednesday: Partly cloudy, chance of an evening shower, highs near 70

Nicole has re-strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane on Tuesday as it continues to slowly move northward in the Atlantic Ocean.

Tuesday’s return to hurricane status comes after the storm had been a tropical storm over the weekend, down from Category 2 hurricane status last week.

Nicole is expected to remain a hurricane as it moves northward in the coming days, passing very close to Bermuda late Wednesday into Thursday. A Hurricane warning is in effect for the island, as residents and tourists prepare for powerful winds, drenching rains, and pounding surf during that time frame.

After passing by Bermuda on Thursday the storm will continue to move northeast, zipping out to sea.

New England may find a slight swell developing as that happens late week into the upcoming weekend.

Hurricane season continues through November in the Atlantic.
