One Person Dead After Being Hit by Amtrak Train in Vermont

Vermont State Police say a person was fatally hit by a northbound Amtrak train around 7:55 p.m. Friday near the Waterbury - Stowe station.

One person is dead after being hit by an Amtrak passenger train Friday night in Waterbury, Vermont, authorities said.

Vermont State Police say they were called just before 8 p.m. for a report of a person who had been struck by a northbound train on the railroad tracks that are adjacent to the Waterbury - Stowe Amtrak station, located at Rotarian Place.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was found dead at the scene, police said. The chief medical examiner will determine the nature and cause of death.

No Amtrak passengers or employees on the train suffered any injuries during the incident, police added.
