Patron slashes waitress with box cutter

(NECN: Jennifer Eagan, Worcester, Mass.) – A waitress is recovering after a patron at the Uno’s Chicago Bar and Grill on Major Taylor Blvd. Slashed her in the face with a box cutter. A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault and battery. Police say Jacinto Figueroa randomly attacked a waitress with a box cutter at this Worcester Uno’s Chicago Bar and Grill. Figueroa underwent a psychiatric evaluation Thursday. The alleged attack happened Wednesday evening. The Worcester man had reportedly been at the restaurant’s bar since noon and had started to make the staff at the restaurant uncomfortable. The bartender refused to serve him a fifth drink. A short time later he allegedly lashed out when a waitress walked by. Worcester police were called to the restaurant, and arrested Figueroa at gunpoint. Mike Hurwitz, the owner of the Uno’s…says the 23-year-old server is very shaken up. Figeuroa reportedly yelled out “call the feds” after the incident. He told the doctor who evaluated him Thursday he had been committed to a psychiatric hospital several times in the past few years and has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. She says Figueroa claims he has heard voices he believed to be the FBI in his head lately.
