A home invasion Tuesday morning at a residence in Leominster, Massachusetts, prompted a large police presence and temporarily locked down a nearby school, authorities said.

Leominster police said the incident took place at 11:36 a.m. at 170 Lancaster St.

Two armed suspects allegedly fled down nearby Sixth Street towards Mechanic Street, prompting a K-9 crew to search the area, police said.

Nearby St. Anna School was temporarily placed in lockdown while the search was going on. That lockdown has since been lifted.

By 4 p.m., police said they were not actively searching for the suspects and that units had cleared the area.

The victim at the home was arrested at the scene for charges police have not yet disclosed.

"He tried to get back in the house while we searched. There was a lot of drug paraphernalia," Interim Leominster Police Chief Michael Goldman said. "This was not a random attack."

Goldman said the investigation was ongoing and that the "alleged victim is not being cooperative."

"We are looking for any surveillance footage in the area," Goldman said.
