Prudential Center closed due to flooding

(NECN: Michelle Brown, Boston, Mass.) – A major hub for business in Boston is shut down this afternoon. The Prudential Center, in the heart of downtown Boston, is closed today. A water pipe gave way on the second floor of the 52-story building, sending thousands of gallons of water into several areas of the building. Firefighters had to evacuate the entire tower. Fire officials say the leak started on the second floor where a pipe, stretching from the basement to the 51st floor, burst. More than 60,000 gallons of water flooded the second floor and below. Power outages disabled several elevators and air conditioning, forcing people to exit through hot stairwells.
