A search-and-rescue plane found the boat 100 miles off the coast of Virginia on Monday, Coast Guard officials said

Two men and a dog missing on a boat that left Rhode Island last week have been located after a dayslong search, U.S. Coast Guard officials said.

Their 43-foot Beneteau sailing boat, the Carol K, was reported missing on Saturday. Ryan Hollis, Joshua Kaine Cairone and a French bulldog named Louis were on board, headed for Miami from Jamestown, Rhode Island, according to earlier tweets from the Coast Guard's northeast U.S. district.

A search-and-rescue plane found the boat 100 miles off the coast of Virginia on Monday, according to an update from the same Coast Guard Twitter account.

The boaters were found safe off Cape Henry, Virginia, and intend to sail to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, the Coast Guard officials said.

Hollis' girlfriend had contacted the Coast Guard Saturday to report him missing after he didn't check in Friday in Norfolk, Virginia, as planned.
