Sanchez arrested in murder of pregnant teen Castillo

(NECN: John Moroney, Boston, Mass.) – Boston Police made an arrest in the case of Paola Castillo, the pregnant teenager who was shot to death in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood while celebrating her 18th birthday. Ruben Sanchez, 19, was arrested and was scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge on Monday. According to police, a weapon was also recovered in the arrest. Police said that Castillo asked several uninvited guests to leave her party at the Hyde Park apartment, after which she was shot in the neck when sticking her head out the window. Witnesses said the shot was fired by one of the men who had been thrown out of the party. Authorities said that the willingness of witnesses to come forward with information played a big role in the arrest. “The way to stop this is to cooperate with the police. And look what happens — within a matter of days they have their man,” District Attorney Dan Conley said.
