Slow Melting, No Big Storms

High pressure responsible for record lows to -30 Friday morning is moving out to sea, and warmer weather is on the way.

Light wind from the south will keep tonight's temperatures above zero Fahrenheit. The just past full "worm" moon will light up our night-time snowscape.

A slow meltdown begins Saturday with sunshine most of the day and highs getting to 32 by afternoon. An Alberta clipper passes over New England Saturday night and Sunday with a few flurries or a snow shower. Lows Sunday in the 10s, high in the 30s Sunday with mostly cloudy skies. A few flurries and sprinkles are possible.

A new high pressure center from Canada will bring seasonable chill to New England Monday, with highs in the 30s and partly cloudy skies.

Next week is not an easy forecast due to a weather front very close by, with weak waves of low pressure rippling by. The lows should track to our north, allowing for a breeze from the southwest and a couple of days of 45 degree air Tuesday and Wednesday.

The front may slip back to our south Wednesday with a few rain or snow showers, then a cool back to the 30s for Thursday and Friday.

With no big storms, we should experience a slow sustained decrease of snow and ice in New England through next Friday.
