Some MA inmates mistakenly receive stimulus checks

(NECN)- Some Massachusetts inmates mistakenly received stimulus checks worth $250. That’s according to the Boston Herald. Now the government is asking for the money back. The stimulus act authorized anyone collecting social security, veterans affairs or railroad retirement board benefits to receive the checks. But inmates are generally not allowed to receive Social Security benefits while incarcerated. The Federal government is now investigating if any checks were sent to prisoners in other states.
