A state police cruiser was hit by a drunk driver in the early hours Sunday in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. on Route 6 east, state police said. The trooper was in the breakdown lane on the highway when another driver hit his car from behind.
Police said ambulances arrived and took the state trooper and the female driver of the other vehicle to Cape Cod Hospital, but neither of them were seriously injured.
The state trooper was discharged from the hospital, but the other driver was held for observation, said police.

According to state police, an investigation of the crash showed the female driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. She will be issued a summons to appear in court on an operating under the influence charge.
