Two Vermont organizations have been awarded $2.8 million in federal funding for solar-related projects.
They are among 15 recipients of the Department of Energy solar funding nationwide.
The Burlington-based Vermont Energy Investment Corporation was awarded a $675,000 cooperative agreement to examine how Vermont could get up to 20 percent of its electricity from solar by 2025. The Institute for Sustainable Communities in Montpelier was awarded $2.1 million to work as a national coordinator for all the awardees.
A press conference will be held Monday in South Burlington to discuss the projects.
