Man Thwarted in School Shooting Plot to Be Treated Out of Vt.

Police have said they stopped Jack Sawyer's planned shooting at Fair Haven Union High School in February 2018

Police arrested 46-year-old George Grimes, an English teacher at Shea High School in Pawtucket, R.I.

Authorities in Vermont say a man charged with planning a school shooting will be sent to a residential treatment facility outside the state.

Police have said they stopped Jack Sawyer's planned shooting at Fair Haven Union High School in February 2018. Sawyer was adjudicated a youthful offender by family court and will be under supervision of the Department of Corrections and Department for Children and Families until he turns 22.

Sawyer was 18 at the time of his arrest. Rutland County State's Attorney Rose Kennedy says Sawyer will not be allowed to possess firearms or enter the town of Fair Haven while he is under state supervision. He also won't be allowed on school premises unless he gets written permission from both state agencies.
