Everyone is aware that Shriver was the founder of the Special Olympics, but she was also an early pioneer in the area of bioethics. She had deep concerns about the moral and religious implications that advances in modern technology might have for questions about when life began or when it ended. She was also anti-abortion. Shriver came often to a quiet sacred Catholic church.
