Teen Injured in Lawrence Shooting

The Michigan attorney general has filed second-degree murder charges against a pharmacist and the co-founder of a Massachusetts pharmacy who are blamed for a fatal meningitis outbreak. Barry Cadden was co-founder of New England Compounding Center and Glenn Chin was a pharmacist. They are currently serving federal prison sentences for convictions in a separate case related to the 2012 national outbreak. At least 76 people died and hundreds more became ill nationwide because of tainted steroids.

A 16-year-old boy was airlifted to a Boston hospital after being shot in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

The shooting took place on Howard Street late Thursday afternoon. Police said the teen was treated at the scene before being airlifted.

Witnesses say it all started with a fight between teenagers when shots were fired. Police blocked the street for several hours while investigators gathered evidence and interviewed several teens in the area.

Shortly after 11 p.m., Lawrence Police said three males had been arrested in connection to the shooting. Darling Magarin, 20, was arrested for assault to murder, according to Carrie Kimball, communications director for the Essex District Attorney's Office.

Kimball said a 17-year-old from Lawrence was arrested and charged with assault to murder and possession of a class A drug. A 16-year-old Lawrence native was also arrested and charged with assault to murder, discharging a firearm 500 feet of a dwelling, and possessision of a firearm without an FID card.

All three suspects are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

The victim's condition is unknown. The case remains under investigation.
