A soccer match in Argentina turned deadly when a player who had been thrown out of the game shot and killed a referee, Efe News Agency reports.
The player, a young man not identified by name, was ejected Monday for hitting another player, according to Efe. He then took a revolver out of his bag and shot the referree, 48-year-old Cesar Flores.
Flores was struck in the head, neck and chest and died of his injuries, Efe reports.
Police told Efe another player, 25-year-old Walter Zarate, was also shot. Zarate was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
The attacker is on the run.
