Flames Shoot Through Roof of Townsend Building

A major fire broke out Monday night in Townsend.

Flames shot through the roof of a building Monday night in Townsend, Massachusetts.

Fire officials in Groton confirmed they were aiding Townsend Fire in response to the 4-alarm blaze on Fitchburg Road.

Aerial footage from NBC10 Boston's SkyRanger showed heavy flames and smoke shooting through the roof of a large building.

"Feeling a litle bit nervous. Not sure what to do after all this ends," said resident Galina Seregina. "My keys are left in the apartment. My purse is there. I only have two cats with me, so it's a little bit stressful."

Seregina says she smelled smoke, then saw smoke coming from the light fix fixture in her bathroom.

Groton Fire had received no reports of injuries.
