Hooded Gunman Opens Fire on Group, Killing 1

It's unclear if anyone else was injured

A broken water main near an MBTA Commuter Rail station in Salem, Massachusetts has been fixed after causing a mess overnight. The incident happened late Thursday on Bridge Street, according to the Salem Department of Public Services. Crews stayed at the scene to fix the 20-inch water main, according to Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll. The break didn’t just cause a detour, but it stranded some motorists when their vehicles were submerged in water.

Police are investigating after a hooded gunman opened fire on a group of friends hanging out on a street in Boston's Dorchester section.

The Boston Herald reports a man in his 20s was killed in the shooting on Ripley Road, which was first reported around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses told police a man in a black hoodie ran up to the group while they were standing on the sidewalk talking and fired approximately seven shots.

The victim's body was removed from the scene by police at about 10:30 p.m. His name and age were not immediately released.

It's unclear if anyone else was injured.

No arrests have been reported.
