‘We Can No Longer Live Like That': Medford Firefighters Protest Working Conditions

Firefighters say the working conditions are not safe and they want the mayor to make changes

Firefighters in Medford, Massachusetts protested working conditions that they say are not safe.

The Medford Fire Union gathered outside Medford City Hall on Tuesday, hoping to make people aware of what they are calling deplorable conditions.

The Union says firefighter locker rooms and the gym are too close to where the fire trucks come in and out, which poses health risks.

"So when they come in and they go out all that exhaust is filling up the room and it ups our chances of getting cancer to be honest," said Eddie Buckley, president of Local 1032 Medford Firefighters. "We can no longer live like that."

Firefighters and the Union hope Tuesday's protest will push the mayor to honor her committment to get them a new fire station.
