2 Injured in Ceiling Collapse on Massachusetts Avenue in Boston

A building partially collapsed in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston Thursday. The commissioner if the Inspectional Services Department said that the building is a steel structure encased in cement. Some of this cement reportedly broke off, caving into the building’s ceiling.

Police responding to a partial building collapse at the corner of Proctor Street and Massachusetts Avenue in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood on Thursday morning.

Boston police said the call came in around 10:20 a.m. for a ceiling collapse. Emergency crews are still at the scene.

Boston Emergency Medical Services said two people were transported to Boston Medical Center with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The building, which houses the Hen House Restaurant and several other businesses, is currently taped off. City building inspectors said a cement ceiling collapsed, and a structural evaluation will be done later in the day.
