Patriots Rework Gronkowski's Contract

The team added up to $4.3 million in incentives to Rob Gronkowski’s 2018 contract.

The Patriots have rewarded tight end Rob Gronkowski by reworking his contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Patriots are adding $4.3 to Gronkowski's contract this year per Gronkowski's agent Drew Rosenhaus, Schefter wrote in a tweet.

Gronkowski will receive $1 million in per-game bonuses and $3.3 million in incentives, upping the maximum value of the deal to $13.050 million in 2018.

Gronkowski is the preeminent tight end in the game and his biggest obstacle through the years has been his ability to stay healthy, starting all 16 regular season games in his career just once (2011).

He’s coming off a 2017 season in which he missed only one game due to health reasons, though, and it was a Thursday Night Football game coming off a quick turnaround from Sunday. Gronkowski was knocked out of last season's AFC Championship game with a concussion.

Gronkowski has two years remaining on his contract.
