Patriots Acquire 49ers Tackle Trent Brown in Trade

NBC10 Boston sports reporter Kevin Walsh details the Patriots first round draft picks, At No. 23 overall, the Patriots selected offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn and at No. 31 overall, New England took running back Sony Michel. Both played their college football at the University of Georgia.

The New England Patriots have traded a third round pick in this year's NFL Draft to the San Francisco 49ers for offensive tackle Trent Brown and a fifth round pick.

Brown, 25, was a seventh round pick of the 49ers back in 2015. The 6-foot-8 right tackle started 10 games last year before being placed on injured reserve following shoulder surgery.

He became expendable when San Francisco drafted tackle Mike McGlinchey with the ninth pick in the first round of Thursday's draft.

The Patriots are in need of tackles after losing left tackle Nate Solder to the New York Giants in free agency. They also drafted tackle Isaiah Wynn with the 23rd pick on Thursday.
