Hamden police have arrested a Quinnipiac University student who is accused of chasing his roommate with a knife and threatening to kill him.
Police said they responded to the university Tuesday to investigate a report of threatening and learned through their investigation that a student had gotten into an argument with his roommate, 18-year-old Josiah Diaz-Cregan, of Meriden.
Then, the dispute escalated when Diaz-Cregan chased his roommate with a knife while threatening to kill him, according to police.
Hamden police arrested Diaz-Cregan with help from Quinnipiac University Public Safety.
He was charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree, threatening in the second degree and disorderly conduct and released on a $500 bond.
“The student was immediately suspended from the university pending the outcome of his student conduct meeting,” Lynn Bushnell, vice president for public affairs Lynn Bushnell, said in a statement.
Diaz-Cregan’s court date is scheduled for Sept. 17 in Meriden Superior Court.
