Rough Surf Expected in Southeastern Mass. as Hermine Passes

Wind gusts reached 35 mph Sunday evening and have ramped up Monday morning

The daughter of a New York hospital employee where a gunman shot six people said she received a text message from her mother who said that she witnessed the man shoot a doctor inside the hospital.

Town officials in Westport, Massachusetts, are keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Hermine, as it’s expected to bring a rough surf to southeastern Massachusetts.

At Westport Marina Sunday evening, people were pulling boats from the water or securing them with extra lines in preparation for the heavy winds.

Wind gusts reached 35 mph Sunday evening and have ramped up Monday morning.

Officials at Horseneck Beach say they will continue to monitor conditions, but that it’s likely the beach will remain closed to swimmers Monday.

Hermine is expected to move out of the area Tuesday night and sunshine will return Wednesday.
