Police: Man Found With Skimming Device, BB Gun in Vehicle

A Massachusetts man is facing a number of charges after police say a skimming device and credit card were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop in North Reading.

Nicholas Jewett, 27, of Woburn was scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon in Woburn District Court on charges of possession of a credit card reader (skimming device) and operating with a suspended license.

Police said Jewett was taken into custody earlier in the day on Route 28 for a traffic violation. Authorities said when he was stopped, officers realized his vehicle registration had been queried dozens of times Thursday night by multiple law enforcement agencies in connection to the alleged involvement of a BB gun assault on Interstate-93 in Woburn.

While conducting an investigation of Jewett's vehicle, police said officers located a silver and black BB gun, dozens of credit cards, a credit card reader and fraudulent driver's licenses.

Authorities said the BB gun assault remains under investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.

It's unclear if Jewett has an attorney.
