World's Tallest Dog, Over 7 Feet, Dies in Michigan

The Great Dane from Michigan that held the title of world's tallest dog has died at age 5.

Owner Kevin Doorlag told the Kalamazoo Gazette that Zeus made his debut in the 2012 edition of Guinness World Records as the tallest living dog. Zeus was 44 inches tall at the shoulder and 7 feet, 4 inches on his hind legs.
 
Zeus weighed 165 pounds and ate a 30-pound bag of food every two weeks, the Battle Creek Enquirer reported.
 
Doorlag, of Otsego, said the entire family will miss Zeus.

The most body modifications for a married couple is 77, held by Uruguayan man Victor Hugo Peralta and his Argentine wife Gabriela Peralta, who married on Feb. 21, 2008. These 77 modifications consist of 50 piercings, four microdermals, 11 body implants, five dental implants, four ear expanders, two ear bolts and one forked tongue.

Steve Sansweet has amassed an estimated 300,000 unique items at Rancho Obi-Wan in northern California. As of May 15, only 90,546 items have been accurately audited and catalogued u2013 a number sufficient enough, however, to beat the previous Guinness World Records figure by a factor of four. Sansweet estimates that the cataloguing process will take years to complete, as his collection continues to grow.
The largest walking robot is 51 feet, 6 inches in length, 40 feet, 5 inches wide and 26 feet, 10 inches high. It was made by Zollner Elektronik AG (Germany) in Zandt, Germany, and was displayed in Berlin on Sept. 27, 2012.
The largest living cat is Hercules, an adult male liger (that's a lion and tigress hybrid) currently housed at the Myrtle Beach Safari wildlife reserve in South Carolina. He is 131 inches long, stands 49 inches at the shoulder and tips the scales at 922 pounds.
The tallest useable pogo stick is 9 feet, 6 1/2 inches high u2014 a height achieved by Fred Grzybowski of the U.S. at the Toronto International Busker Festival on August 7, 2011.
The largest chair measured 98 feet, 5 inches tall. It was made by XXX Lutz together with Holzleimbauwerk Wiehag GmbH (all Austria) and was completed and presented in St. Florian, Austria, on Feb. 9, 2009.

Zeus was a local celebrity in the Kalamazoo area and frequently visited local schools and hospitals as a therapy dog. Doorlag said he will also miss seeing the joy Zeus brought to other people.
 
"Those are some of the things I'll never forget about him," Doorlag said. "He was definitely a great dog."
 
Zeus died last week from old age, just two months shy of his sixth birthday, according to Doorlag.
