Josh Zakim ‘Shocked' to Get Party Endorsement Over Incumbent Bill Galvin

Massachusetts Democratic Party delegates gathered in Worcester Saturday for the party’s annual convention and in a surprise move endorsed challenger Boston city councilor Josh Zakim for secretary of state over long-time incumbent William Galvin. Zakim says he was shocked to come away with the endorsement and he is still processing exactly what happened. While Galvin says he would have preferred to have won, he says he’s lost the party nomination twice in the past years and still gone on to win the election. He is confident voters will conclude he has the experience to best handle the job. Both Galvin and Zakim believe anger over the Trump presidency is having an effect on their election.
