Save on Gas for Car Free Day

(NECN) - As commuters get ready for a day of work, some may be avoiding the four-wheeled vehicle. It is because Thursday marks World Car Free Day.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority says fare increases are likely, as the organization faces a $161 million budget deficit. Aside from the massive budget gap, $15 billion is needed for transportation system repairs across the state.

Massachusetts Transportation Secretary Richard Davey joined "The Morning Show" to talk about the "no car" initiative, and what the state plans to do to improve public transportation.
