A Massachusetts man is accused of trying to kidnap two teenagers in broad daylight.

Jeffrey Lennon, 42, of Plymouth, appeared in Plymouth District Court Monday. Police say he was arrested Friday for allegedly trying to kidnap an 18-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl in a wooded area off of Lakeview Boulevard.

"She's not sleeping," said Brandy Turner, the mother of the older victim. "She's not eating. She's terrified."

Turner said the suspect is her next-door neighbor, and the alleged attack happened just feet away from her home.

"He first grabbed my daughter's arm, and then he grabbed the other child and said, 'You know what I'm going to do with her," Turner said.

Turner said the incident left a physical mark on her daughter.

"You can physically see his hand print on my daughter's arm," she said.

Lennon pleaded not guilty to a slew of charges, including assault and battery and attempted kidnapping.

"Mr. Lennon grabbed the 13-year-old minor from behind and wrapped both his arms around her," the prosecutor said in court.

Lennon's attorney denies that version of events.

"He said 'Hello' to them," he said. "They ran by him. That's the closest he came to touching them."

Turner sang the praises of a retired police officer who she said come to the girl's rescue.

"Both of the girls took off," Turner said. "Ran to a neighbor's house, which is a retired police officer. He came out of this house to try to protect the girls."

That was before police were called.

Willy Barriteau has lived in the neighborhood for decades and said the alleged incident is unusual for the area.

"I'm watching TV," he said. "I come out. And he was really violent. They're lucky they had a cop come."

The prosecutor requested a stay away order. However, Turner said that doesn't do any good if Lennon is released and goes home, just feet away from her daughter.

"He lives 30 feet from me," Turner said.
