Ellen Parker joined Jim Braude to discuss upcoming 46th annual Walk For Hunger
The Walk For Hunger has been an early-May tradition in Boston for decades.
On Sunday, May 4, the tradition will continue.
The event, now in its 46th year, raises millions of dollars for families in need so they can put food on their tables.
This year's walk has enlisted 40,000 participants. That's 80,000 sore feet, but all for a good cause.
Ellen Parker, Executive Director of Project Bread and the Major General who will be commanding the troops on Sunday, joined Jim Braude on Broadside to discuss the event.
"Hunger is really a proxy for not making enough money," said Parker. "People aren't making enough money to make ends meet."
Parker feels an elevation in minimum wage will go a long way in lowering widespread hunger.

About 350,000 kids suffer from hunger across the Bay State.
Those who aren't signed up for the walk and want to walk can just show up at Boston Common and participate.
"I think we're going to have a terrific walk this year," added Parker.
