Capitol Hill “in shock” over death of Sen. Kennedy

(NECN) – Robert Traynham, the Washington Bureau Chief for the Comcast Network joins NECN to reflect on the life of Senator Edward Kennedy. Traynham also worked as a Republican staffer on Capitol Hill and for political campaigns. Traynham says Kennedy not only touched the lives of his colleagues in the Senate, but also everyone who he encountered on Capitol Hill. “Everyone here on Capitol Hill is mourning the loss of Senator Kennedy,” says Traynham. “Everyone knew this was going to happen, but still it’s a shock.” He says that everyone from the Capitol Police, to the cafeteria workers are fondly remembering their encounters with Kennedy. Traynham also shares his personal stories about his time Kennedy. He recalls how the lion of the Senate would turn into a “pussycat” when compromising with his Republican colleagues.
